We are investigating liquid crystal materials with EC properties, and we expect that if such compounds can be developed, it will lead to improved response speeds due to easier orientation control. Furthermore, previous research on EC materials has primarily focused on changing color through either oxidation or reduction. Therefore, we are considering applications as color display devices and are developing liquid crystal EC materials that can change color tones through electrochemical control on both the oxidation and reduction sides.
